The mauselium of Islam Karimov
There is a construction of the memorial tomb of the first president of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov near the ancient mosque of Hazrat Hizr in Samarkand city.
In the process of planning much attention was payed to the combination of the design of the mausoleum with the Hazrat Hizr mosque and also to the preservation of the old mosque's historical appearence, which is considered as the object of the UNESCO Worldwide heritage.
The mausoleum was engineered and constructed according the traditions of eastern architecture. Moreover it combines use of both medieval and modern architectural techniques. Considering its structural type, it refers to a group of single-chamber tombs of the fourteenth and eighteenth centuries. Such kind of mausoleums can be found in many regions of Central Asia.
Entrance of the mausoleum is located in the southeastern part of the mausoleum. Above the entrance door there is an inscription from the Koran in Arabic, executed in the handwriting "sul" with woven exquisite floral ornament. The text of the inscription means "Peace" in the words of the Creator of the Most Merciful "(58th verse of Surah" Ya-Sin ").
