Mausoleum of Abubakr Kaffal al-Shashi (also - Abu Bakr al-al-Shashi Kaffal) - is one of the most valuable cultural and architectural monuments all over Uzbekistan. It is a member of Hazrat Imam, which is located in the old district of the capital.
Due to some events ensemble of Hazrat Imam was built just within walking distance from this mausoleum, around which more and more constructions began to appear, eventually they turned into a full-fledged complex. The name of the complex is a name of the philosopher and great scholar Shashi Abubakr, who was a worthy representative of his era. He was born in the capital at the beginning of the X century. He has received an excellent education studying in madrassahs of different major cities. According his deep devotion to Islam he has visited Mekka many times, as well as big cities. Hazrat Imam talked with the best scientists of that time. He had so much knowledge of theology, and so unquestioned authority that received the name of the Great Imam. Most of his contemporaries also believed that there was no one in Mauriya who could be equal to him. Having received a large number of honorary titles and epithets, in the memory of his contemporaries, he was still a resident of Tashkent. That is why he was called "Tashkent Locksmith". By the way, there is a legend that says that the prefix "Locksmith (Kaffal)" he received because he made an amazingly impressive lock, the key of which had weight of more than 1 kg.
