Juma Mosque

Juma Mosque - which means "Friday" (in honor of a special prayer) - the most significant chapel building ancient Khiva, occupies an honorable position in the center of Ichan-Kala. In contrast to the traditional architecture, the building lacks domed ceilings, arches and visually highlighted at the entrance portals. This one-storey structure with a thick wall, which has done three input aperture. This is explained by the fact that Abdurahman mihtar, approximate dignitary Khiva ruler, build new facilities in place before existed in the tenth century. By order of the dignitary in deference to the traditions of previous generations it has been exactly reproduced ancient architecture.
